✎ You Have the Right to Remain Silent...
Discussing what kind of project we would tackle for the next month proved to be quite difficult; there were many ideas we had in mind, but Road (first-timer Programmer, longtime and dedicated Writer) was adamant on this festering idea they had planned a bit back, and it was unanimously agreed we would burden a suspense/inspired-crime theme that tackled interpersonal racism and internalized racial superiority that derives both from fiction and the uncomfortable representation that is sometimes reality. It's a complicated issue, not one you want to see in games, but that is why we agreed to make a mindful impact that tested the player with these lingering perceptions. Perhaps they are ones we have all seen too often, ones we have unfortunately and unwillingly grown up in, or behaviors we want to change upon ourselves and our communities as a whole. |
✎ A Cup of Coffee for Your Thoughts?
The sound of a door chiming, the pelt of rain against the windows, and the roasting smell of coffee beans in the air just speaks the perfect scene of a crime! I am highly guilty of passing each local coffee shop I come across, and much of the backgrounds are inspirations from ones I have frequented in my unrelenting craze for the perfect, coffee brew. Both a comfy and confined space was essential for the story's smooth navigation and story-telling, as well as enhance the uneasiness of the main protagonist's situation. |
Much of the comic-lined backgrounds were inspired by The Wolf Among Us concept artwork.

✎ Final Words
Les: First, what's your favorite kind of drink to get from a coffee shop? Road: Tough, but a Honey Lavender Latte. Also a big fan of matchas! Les: Nice. Onto a more serious note: what do you want players to take away from this game? Road: I want people to realize we're all human underneath. Our actions have consequences, but they can also show compassion if we let ourselves be open to that. We're all flawed, and we should recognize that; we can grow to be better. We should be better. |
