✧Setting the Stage
The entire team set out to research various culture practices that were facing eradication from the ever modernizing world we live in today, and one we could properly portray in a game-like, engaging setting with the limited time-frame we had. Together, we agreed on woodworking traditions from three distinct cultures: Indian, Maori, and Chinese. |
Ace Attorney & Professor Layton were inspirations for the story, game-play and art direction.
✧ Highlighting the Artwork
Our main objective was to respectfully portray what we had researched, and then revolve our story around it. I was tasked with picking a specific motif from each culture, and creating phases as if it were being carved in real life. This way, the player engages with the practice of woodworking, learn facts about the significance of each motif, and how much intricate design is incorporated.

✧ The Panel✧
The main adversaries of Alex, the judges of the World Summit need to be convinced that woodworking traditions need to be saved with the choices the player makes.
In addition to their stationary pose, I made special poses for them in the gameplay that is unique to each one that emphasizes their personalities.
